Work-life balance is deteriorating in Australia

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, work-life balance is getting more difficult for people across Australia. Four in 10 people are currently struggling with it, says Richard Denniss, executive director of think tank The Australia Institute.
Mr Denniss also noted that by working extra hours when they’re not in the office, Australians collectively are giving away $110 billion in free labour every year.
“Whether they realise it or not, Australians are far more generous to their employer than they are to any charity,” he said.
Looking for your personal limits
It’s not impossible to be a mortgage broker with a balanced personal life, but it will take a focused effort. News.com.au recommends taking the time to think about what limits will work best for you personally. Maybe instead of checking your email five times a day while on holiday, limit it to one or two. It depends what works best for you.
“Some people like to check their emails at the beach because that means they can spend time with their family and yet not worry that there might be an emergency at the office,” said Grace McCarthy of Wollongong University. “Others prefer digital detox, by switching off completely, not answering any emails, checking social media.”
